Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has sent his congratulatory message to Dr William Ruto after winning the 2022 General Elections’ Presidential contest.
“Congratulations on your victory Dr. William Ruto, President-Elect, Republic of Kenya. It is by God’s grace and the true will of the people, you were elected President. You have the ability to transform this country for the betterment of all,” CS Balala said.
“Wishing you the best as you prepare to assume the responsibilities that come with such a high office. Hongera! God be with you, God Bless Kenya.”
Dr Ruto was elected president after he garnered 50.49 per cent of the total votes cast. This equaled to 7,176,141 votes.
He was followed closely by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who got 6,942,930 equal to 48.85 per cent of the total votes cast.
Dr. Ruto contested through the UDA party while Raila contested for the seat under the Azimio la Umoja.
It was Dr. Ruto’s first stab at the presidency while Raila Odinga was trying his luck for the fifth time.
Dr. Ruto’s deputy president designate will be former Mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua.

If the presidential results are not contested at the Supreme Court of Kenya, Dr. Ruto will be sworn in as the fifth president before the end of August 2022.
He will take over from President Uhuru who will be retiring after completing his two terms.
