Passenger who died at JKIA identified as Baringo Deputy Governor

A passenger who died while boarding a plane at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has been identified as new Baringo County deputy governor Charles Kipng’ok.

Kipng’ok, 65, is reported to have developed breathing difficulties while boarding KQ to Mombasa on Wednesday evening.

Medical personnel at the airport were called to the scene. Upon examination, the Baringo Deputy Governor was pronounced dead.

“Kenya Airways PLC (“KQ”), regrets to announce that a passenger developed breathing difficulties this evening while boarding KQ612 that was scheduled to depart for Mombasa at 1900hours,” Kenya Airways said in a statement.

“The passenger was pronounced dead by medical personnel at JKIA while the aircraft was still on ground.”

Kenya Airways added that JKIA Health and Security agencies will be handling the issue. “We convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time,” the national carrier said in the statement.
