All bumps and zebra crossings along Thika Super Highway will be removed and footbridges erected within the next six months in a project that has been estimated to cost Sh300 million.
According to Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, the removal of bumps and zebra crossings will also see the end of matatus picking and dropping of passengers in the middle of the highway.
“We are going to remove all the zebra crossings and the speed bumps along the super highway in order to ease traffic flow on that road,” said Mr Macharia.
Recent statistics released by transport agency indicated that 70 people die annually along the super highway compared to 30 along Jogoo Road.
