African Union's statement on protests and police killings in Kenya

The African Union has issued a statement on the protests that were held across Kenya on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

The statement was issued by Moussa Faki who is the chairperson of the African Union Commission. Here is the statement:

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, is following with deep concern the outbreaks of violence following public protests in Kenya, which has resulted in loss of life and damage to property.

The Chairperson urges all stakeholders to exercise calm and refrain from further violence. The Chairperson also appeals to national stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue to address the contentious issues that led to the protests in the supreme interest of Kenya.
