In a surprising move, President William Ruto announced the dissolution of his entire cabinet, and the Attorney General, during a press briefing on Thursday, July 11th.
This decision follows a backlash from Kenyan protesters who accused the Cabinet of incompetence and corruption scandals, prompting calls for an immediate overhaul.
In his address at State House, Ruto assured the public that the only offices not affected by the changes would be those of the Deputy President and the CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi.

The president assured that government programs and services would continue as usual despite the dissolution.
“I have, in line with the powers given to me by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs,” said Ruto.
Ruto asserted that he would immediately begin extensive consultations across various sectors and political formations to establish a broad-based government that is lean, inexpensive, effective and efficient.
He promised to surround himself with a new team dedicated to accelerating the urgent and irreversible implementation of radical programs to tackle debt, boost domestic resources, expand job opportunities, eliminate waste and duplication in government and fight corruption.
