SC Johnson expands malaria prevention efforts with repellent manufacturing in Kenya

SC Johnson, the company known for trusted household brands like OFF!®, Fuyí®, and Raid®, has introduced high-speed manufacturing lines at its Nairobi, Kenya plant to produce SC Johnson Guardian™, an innovative spatial repellent aimed at fighting mosquito-borne diseases, including malaria.

As malaria season reaches its peak across Africa, Guardian™ provides a straightforward yet effective solution. This product can be easily hung in semi-enclosed areas such as homes, schools, and humanitarian shelters, significantly reducing the presence of mosquitoes.

Clinical trials show that spatial repellents like Guardian™ can decrease the risk of malaria transmission by 33 percent while offering protection for up to 12 months. This initiative is expected to benefit 20 million people each year in East Africa and beyond, focusing on vulnerable communities where mosquito-borne illnesses pose a significant health threat.
