Mukumu Boys and Bishop Njenga emerged winners of the very competitive Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Western Province edition which took place last weekend at Kanduyi Stadium.
The two teams won 200,000ksh each and a chance to represent Western Province in the national finals scheduled for 24th and 25th March this year. The first runners up were also awarded 100000ksh.
Mukumu boys registered 2:0 goals over Lugari Blue Saints with Bishop Njega beating Kakamega’s Shinyalu 1:0 in thrilling final matches.
“Our win today is a dream come true and we will never stop fighting till the very end. Our focus is in London and the national finals’ prize money,” said Patrick Baraza, Coach – Mukumu Boys
“It’s a good feeling to win against a tough team in a tough match like today’s. Our opponents are known giants in this region and this is a proof of good training. We look forward to going for the football clinic in London after winning the national finals,” said Violet Wanyonyi, Captain – Bishop Njenga.
The teams that have so far earned a ticket to the national finals include Kapenguria Heroes and Tar Tar Girls-Rift, Mwingi Junior Academy and Ngakaa Talent Academy-Eastern, Ombek Red Devils and Plateau Queens – Nyanza, Shimba Hills and Waa Girls-Coast as well as Al-Hayat FC representing North Eastern region. Central and Nairobi regions will also hold their regional finals in the next few weeks.
