Joyce Laboso’ final request days to her death

Joyce Laboso Death Cause: The lat Dr. Joyce Laboso had made peace with the possibility that she was about to meet her death. Reports suggest that she had in fact requested to be allowed to go home and rest. Eight days to her death, Ms. Laboso had told her doctor she wanted to be discharged. “I want to go rest at home,” she had told one of her doctors on July 21 from her hospital bed in the high dependency unit (HDU).

In the past two months, Dr Laboso had been in hospitals in London, India and finally at the Nairobi Hospital, where she died yesterday. The Standard reports that on July 19, Laboso had been moved from the intensive care unit to the HDU where she requested to be allowed to go ‘rest at home’. But some family members are said to have resisted the suggestion, arguing that she needed to be in hospital. That is why on Monday, July 22, she was moved to the general VIP ward in the North Wing where she remained until her death.

Her long battle with cancer was officially confirmed after news broke that she had passed on at the Nairobi Hospital. However, her husband Edwin Abonyo on Monday revealed that it was her wish that her health condition remain a private matter.

Addressing the press at the Lee Funeral Home, Mr. Abonyo said Dr. Laboso had suffered for a long time but the family opted to keep the details private. The governor ostensibly did not want her ailment to affect her service delivery to the people of Bomet County.

“She actually suffered for a long time but we kept it under wraps. She did not want it to deter her duty and all the things that she was doing,” said Abonyo. He added: “She was very strong and we can only reciprocate that by also being strong for her.” Joyce Laboso Death Cause.

According to medical staff, Laboso was first diagnosed with cancer in 1991, but she had been in remission until recently when her health deteriorated. Doctors noted that the cancer had spread throughout her body. The governor had left the country on May 29 for London and was admitted at the Royal Madden NHS Hospital for over a month. She was later flown to India for another two weeks for further treatment.
