Absa Kenya Appoints Christine Sabwa as Non-Executive Director

Ms. Christine Sabwa has appointed as an independent Non-Executive Director on the Absa Kenya Plc Board of Directors with effect from February 9th 2022.

Ms. Sabwa has over 25 years experience in business strategy, financial management, financial risk assessment, audit and business advisory.

Absa Bank Kenya is part of Absa Group Limited, an African financial services group that aims to be the pride of the continent. Absa Group Limited is listed on the JSE in South Africa and is one of Africa’s largest diversified financial services groups with a presence in 12 countries across the continent and around 42, 000 employees.

Ms. Sabwa brings to the Absa Kenya board, business and leadership skills that will be crucial in driving growth and shaping the future of the lender.

She is currently Managing Partner of Sabwa & Associates, a business advisory firm providing services in audit, accounting, tax and finance advisory services.

Ms. Sabwa is currently serving on other Boards including Multichoice Group, Britam and Shalom Group of Hospitals among others. She was recognized by Business Daily as one of the Top 40 Under 40 2010 edition for her contribution to banking and finance.

Ms. Sabwa has had an illustrious careeer. She has served in senior roles in several multinationals including: Bharti Airtel International (Netherland) B.V. where she was Chief Operating Officer for Airtel Money Business in Africa and the Finance Director for Africa mobile commerce business, Head of Strategy and Finance at CFC Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited and CFC Stanbic Holdings Limited where she was Group Finance Director and KPMG Kenya as an Auditor.

Ms. Sabwa holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting) from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya.
