Bob Collymore’s term at Safaricom extended

Co-Op post

Safaricom chief executive officer Bob Collymore’s term at the helm of Safaricom has been extended by two more years.

His contract was due to expire in August after it was renewed for two years in May 2015.

“He has successfully navigated the company through very difficult times,” said Safaricom Chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a.

Collymore joined Safaricom as CEO in August 2010 from UK’s Vodafone, which controls 40 per cent stake in Safaricom.

Bob Collymore took over from Michael Joseph, the celebrated corporate leader who is now the chairman of Kenya Airways. His tenure has seen Safaricom rise to the most profitable company in the region with record shattering annual financial results.
