We prefer white people only, says Chandarana

Chandarana Racism: Supermarket chain Chandarana is in hot soup after an email riddled with racism was leaked.

In the emailed that was authored by a Ms. Rima Patel, marketing executives at the retailer are instructed to only reward white shoppers as the retailer was now shifting its focus away from Africans.

“We are delighted to inform you that our supermarket chain, would like give you free vouchers to winner in your upcoming events as we are now focusing on white people to attract our supermarkets(sic),” said Patel in the email.

However, in a rejoinder seen by Bizna Kenya, the management apologised for the unfortunate incident saying the author’s lack of English language proficiency was to blame.

“Her lack of proficiency in the English language is an easy way to justify this horrendous error. While this is actually the case, it really does not make it excusable in any way,” read the statement.

Over the recent past, cases of racial segregation and abuse have been reported in Kenya. Amazingly, the government has only poured cold water on them. Mid this month, the country was shocked after details of racial abuse against Kenyans working at the SGR were reported.

These included corporal punishments and racial segregation. Shockingly, the government dismissed them and recommended that Kenyans bear with the abusive Chinese instead.
