Raila: Cherera and her team should manage new presidential elections

Azimio la Umoja coalition’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga has asked the Supreme Court to make an order that Juliana Cherera should oversee a new presidential election.

Raila asked this in his final submissions before the Supreme Court on Friday. According to Raila’s lawyers who addressed the court on his behalf, current Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati is not fit to manage a fresh presidential election.

Raila argued that the court had the ability to declare Cherera as the interim chairperson. Cherera has been serving as the vice chairperson at the IEBC.
