If you are heavily pregnant, there is a big chance that airlines will ask for authorization to fly from your medical doctor who must be qualified and licensed in their practice.
One of the reasons for this is to ensure that the process of travel will not compromise your wellness of the wellness of the child whose birth your are about to give. But there is another bigger reason why you will not be allowed to board, especially if you are traveling to the United States of America.
According to US immigration lawyer at The Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein, Brad Bernstein, this reason is the act of flying deliberately to the US to give birth and subject your newborn to American citizenship by birth, and for which you are highly likely to be deported upon arrival at the airport.
“Airlines that fly you will get fined by the US government if they allow somebody on the plane who then ends up getting deported at the airport when they arrive,” he says in a social commentary. “The assumption is that the airline should have known not to board them, such as a pregnant woman who is coming to give birth in the United States on a tourist visa.”

The concern is not only that you will give birth on the plane, but there is also a financial component on it too for the airlines. According to Mr. Bernstein, you might be found to be in violation of your visitor visa if your purpose is found to be to give birth in the United States.
“If you are entering the United States for the purposes of giving birth, that is a violation of your visitor’s visa and you will be subject to having your visitor’s visa revoked and getting banned from entering the US especially if you take government assistance,” he said.
On the other hand, said Mr. Bernstein, you can use the tourist visa to go to the United States for the necessary medical attention. “If you happen to give birth through this process, you will have done no wrong as giving birth wasn’t your actual reason for travel,” he said.
