Ida Odinga: People who dined at my home have now abandoned Raila

Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga has claimed that some politicians who used to dine at her home prior to the August 9 General Elections have turned their backs against her family.

Speaking in Homa Bay, Ida alleged that the politicians, mainly drawn from the Luo Nyanza region, have formed caucuses that are mobilizing the Luo community away from the leadership of Raila.

“The same politicians would wake up and come to my home for breakfast, lunch and supper and spend the whole day at my office. They are now insulting members of my family, forgetting they used to frequent my home, pretending to be close to the family,” she said.

In the Luo Nyanza region, some of the targeted politicians by Mrs. Odinga included former Lake Basin Development Authority Chairman Odoyo Owidi, former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa and former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo.

Others are former Rangwe MP Martin Ogindo and former Kasipul MP Silvance Osele.

These politicians are reportedly calling on the Luo community which forms the backbone of Raila’s political career to leave the opposition and instead work more closely with the government.

According to Mrs. Odinga, politicians who used to frequent her home during breakfast, lunch and supper were now paint a bad picture of the Odinga family on social media in the hope of getting rewarded by the Kenya Kwanza government.

“Those making noise on Facebook with intentions of seeking state recognition are wasting their time,” she said.
