Popular KTN Swahili News anchor Ahmed Darwesh is dead.
News of Mr. Darwesh’ death began to spread on Monday evening before they were confirmed by his brother, Khamis Darwesh, through his Facebook page. “Innaa Lillahi Wa Innaa Ileihi Raajiun. Lost my brothe Ahmed Darwesh of KTN. Burial to be communicated,” his brother Khamis posted.
Darwesh is widely recognized to have been one of the most prolific and unbiased Swahili local anchors.
Ahmed is said to have been battling diabetes for a long time. According to sources, he was found dead at his house on a sofa where he is suspected to have collapsed and died. his body was moved to Mater Hospital.
A fare well service for the friends and family of Darwesh was held at South C Mosque. The body of Ahmed was to be laid to rest in Mombasa on Tuesday morning.
