The suspect is said to have waited for her husband to step out before dashing to the bedroom and took the money.

Police said the suspect switched off her phone moments after taking the money and could not be traced.

The husband would later learn that the money was missing as well. He proceeded to report the matter to the police. She however was unreachable even when police tried to reach her on phone.

Following the investigations, Achieng was arrested on October 13. She told the court that she took the money to save her sick mother and denied that she stole the money.

She said: “It’s true I tool the money because my father was sick,”
The case will be mentioned on October 29.
