Murder suspect Michael Kang’ethe rearrested in Ngong town

Michael Kang’ethe has been rearrested in Ngong town. This has been announced by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“Wanted murder suspect Kevin Kinyanjui Kang’ethe who escaped from police custody on February 7, 2024 has been rearrested by detectives,” the DCI announced on Wednesday morning.

“The escapee was taken to custody last night following a scrupulous intelligence-led operation within Ngong township in Kajiado County.”

Kang’ethe had escaped from Muthaiga Police Station in unclear circumstances that left the Kenya Police in utter embarrassment. He was being held at the station awaiting his extradition to the United States to answer to a charge of first degree murder.

Kang’ethe is the prime suspect in the murder of Maggie Mbitu, a Kenya  woman who was a US citizen.
