MRM graduates students from the MRM CYEP program in the Ministry of Youth

Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM), a leading manufacturer of Building Solutions and a member of the Safal Group® today at the official National International Youth Day celebration in Kenya Cultural Centre, launched their virtual training and graduated a cohort of their students. This is through their Initiative called MRM CYEP, which was started in 2018 to economically empower the youth by equipping them with relevant ICT and entrepreneurship skills that will provide necessary knowledge for job creation.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, access to technology and digital literacy is crucial for personal and economic growth. Unfortunately, many communities still lack the necessary resources and opportunities to acquire these vital skills. The program is designed to address this gap, fostering inclusion and enabling youth across Kenya to harness the power of technology for a brighter future.

Key features of the Program include a Virtual Learning Platform. In this working curriculum, participants will have access to a comprehensive curriculum covering various aspects of ICT, including basic digital skills, life skills and entrepreneurship and certification upon completion of the program validating their acquired ICT skills.

Commenting on the launch, the Director of MRM, Dipti Mohanty, stated:

“By extending the benefits of digital education to underserved communities, we are taking a step towards a more inclusive and empowered society. This program aims to equip individuals with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.”

The CYEP reaffirms MRM’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. By investing in education and technology, the company aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities.

Present at the event were also the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts, Ababu Namwamba E.G.H. and Principal Secretary, Ismail Maalim Madey, State Department for Youth Affairs, who lauded the Initiative as one that is making a fundamental impact amongst youth today.

The mobile caravan will be going around the country across different counties, namely Machakos, Meru, Kwale, and Nairobi. The program, however, seeks to reach and empower more youth in the coming years to impact more than 1 million youth in Kenya by 2030.
