Nick Salat: I won’t worship or glorify failure Gideon Moi anymore

Co-Op post

Nick Salat has come out guns blazing a day after he was suspended from the position of secretary general of Kanu.

The former Bomet Member of Parliament has branded Kanu chairman Gideon Moi as a failure. He says that he will no longer worship the failure that is Gideon Moi.

Salat has claimed that Moi is hell-bent on bringing the party down with him.

“We cannot worship an individual at the expense of the party. We cannot worship him. We can’t,” Salat told a local daily newspaper. “Why are we glorifying him and we are not helping the party?”

Salat says that new parties are emerging and winning political seats while Kanu’s fortunes continue to dwindle.

“Small parties are coming up, winning seats and the presidency, but for us, we are stuck because of an individual. I told him off and that is why he is suspending me,” he told the daily.

“In 2017, we had 11 MPs, now we have six. We had 64 MCAs, but now we have 30. We have no governor. And even the few who were elected, fought on their own. The party did not help them.”

Salat has attempted to recapture his parliamentary seat multiple times on a Kanu ticket in vain.

The once powerful party that was dominant in the rift valley region has since irredeemably lost ground to President William Ruto. The party has been under the leadership of Gideon Moi  ever since former president Uhuru Kenyatta resigned from the party.
