Chebukati: No official IEBC presidential results today, not anytime soon

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati has announced that the commission will not reveal presidential results for today.

He clarified the media results saying that the media are tallying votes from the available Form 34As which are present on the IEBC portal.

“Results in the public portal are the same as those the commission will use to declare the results. We have given agents, media and certain stakeholders access to the same. Declaration of Presidential results will not happen today.” Said the IEBC boss during a briefing update.

Chebukati has confirmed that the commission has not received any replicas of Form 34A and Form 34B, which would indicate false votes.

“Collecting of results from 290 constituencies is underway and returning officers will deliver Form 34B afterward. We encourage candidates who have lost the elections to concede.”

Some results tallied by the Azimio coalition have started showing that Raila Odinga will emerge the winner of the 2022 presidential election.

The results as shared by Nairobi senatorial hopeful and Azimio Secretary General show that Raila has 6,703,549 votes compared to Dr. Ruto’s 6,099,766 votes.

The commission has requested Kenyans to be patient as it is still early to tell who will win. Majority of third party results on the internet or TV are provisional and not the actual official results. All updates regarding the tallying process is done on the IEBC official portal.
