Raila: I don’t want rerun, declare me winner I take oath

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has asked the Supreme Court to declare that he won the August 9 presidential election.

Raila says that he is not interested in a rerun but rather a declaration that he beat Dr William Ruto in the presidential contest.

“We want the court to declare that we have won, and instead of voting again, announce us the winner so we can take the oath,” said Raila on Wednesday in Mombasa.

Dr. Ruto was declared as the rightful president-elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Raila further said that IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati should be made to excuse himself from the gubernatorial polls in Mombasa County and Kakamega County.

“He should disqualify himself from presiding over Mombasa and Kakamega polls,” he said.

“I have decided to come here to see you face to face due to the injustices inflicted upon you and Kakamega people. They decided to postpone the polls in the two counties because they were scared. But non matter how many times they postpone we will still win.”

He added: “Can’t you see that I am not sad or shaken by anything. I know eventually the truth shall be known. Martha Karua and I have seen a lot of injustice. We are dealing with very corrupt opponents who had planned to rig a long time ago. The truth shall set the Kenyan nation free. Please be patient.”
