The annual Jumia Black Friday shopping season is here. This year, at least four million Kenyans are expected to log onto the Jumia platform to secure goods and services at discounts of over 70 per cent.
According to a statement from the e-commerce leader in Kenya, the one month event will run from 2nd to 30th November.
“We are looking forward to giving quality goods at great discounts to Kenyans and have tagged this year’s event as ‘Every Friday is Black Friday this November!’,” Jumia says in a statement. It is expected that this year’s event will be twice as large as the black Friday event that was held last year. This is due to the continued growth of the e-commerce sector in Kenya.

The e-commerce space is on an upward trajectory. The share of Jumia’s sales originating from the App has increased from 20 per cent to 31 per cent over the last year. Interestingly, this growth has Jumia offer more App-Only-Deals.
“We want to reward our most loyal customers with our best deals. This is why we are launching App-Only-Deals this Black Friday. Customers can find the best deals, and benefit from faster shopping & lower data costs on our app”, said Jumia MD, Sam Chappatte.
According to Jumia, one of the easiest ways that Kenyans access dozens of discount vouchers, flash sales and treasure hunts is by downloading the Jumia App before the mega campaign kicks off.
“Nonetheless, desktop users will still be able to access deals of up to 70 per cent off, on over 3 million products,” said Jumia in a statement.
Interestingly, Jumia has already started to reveal it’s key Black Friday deals.
The first deals to be announced were Free Delivery for customers who pay up to Sh. 250 with Visa, and Free Orders for new Jumia customers for Coca Cola sodas.

In this year’s black Friday, Jumia has partnered with both local and international brands including Visa, Huawei, Samsung, Synix, OMO, LC Waikiki, Xiomi, Pampers, Unilever, Ramtons, Mooka, Simba Corp, Chandaria Industries, and Procter & Gamble.
