Shame of filthy, broken toilets and sinks at JKIA exposed

Kenya’s most prominent airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, has hit the headlines once again for the wrong reasons. A review from a nasty experience by a Kenyan who was identified as Mohamed Hersi has shed light on the poor condition of key facilities such as toilets at the airport.

Apparently, the airport has broken toilets and zero tissues. Here is Hersi’s take on the state of the toilets and sinks at JKIA:

We have a serious problem with work ethics in this country.

Co-Op post

I visited a washroom at JKIA which is also used by Paul Cafe and oh my oh my the filth was unbelievable.

I saw three young men who were busy chatting in red uniform and they were part of the cleaning company.

No toilet paper in any of the washrooms.

No paper towel.

Loose sink tap that swings 180 degrees

Unusable WC, totally filthy

I called them and asked them to look at me in the eye and told them , what a let down they are to Kenya. JKIA is the face of Kenya and if we can’t clean S…..we got no business to aspire to be the best in this and that.

Kenyan woman’s bitter experience departing JKIA to Canada

I told them I am in tourism and it takes a lot of effort and energy to get travelers both domestic to travel within Kenya and international to choose Kenya.

I have always asked myself, why do we find it so hard to keep washrooms clean and in good shape ?

If you ever visit a restaurant or a hotel, first visit the washroom and decide if you still want to eat there.

To JKIA Kenya Airports Authority you earn a barb. What is so hard in getting these 3rd party firms to clean and do what they are meant to do.

Since Parapet Cleaning Services developed cleaning services we have seen all sort of companies have mushroomed and majority are nothing but a bunch of crap who should not be allowed anywhere a key facility like JKIA.

JKIA is not some cow shed and we must manage washrooms first before we talk of nuclear energy and bigger things.

We cuddle mediocrity but pretend to love excellence. We admire Dubai, Singapore, Kigali but we choose filth as our middle name .

This must stop and each one of us must speak up and get these lazy workers to do what they are meant to do. At least they got down busy to work after my dressing down.

When you remain silent YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM

Well the sunset is to die for which suddenly is undermined by lethargic lazy firms that have been awarded contracts to handle the facilities at this very important entry to Kenya and Eastern Africa.
