Eli: Devil made me steal 1 million from Jalang’o, I used 100k only

Eli: Devil made me steal 1 million from Jalang'o, I used 100k only

Eli Omundu, one of two former employees of Jalang’o who have been begging for their jobs back since stealing, has finally admitted that they stole Sh. 1,000,000 during a campaign event. Felix Odiwour widely known by his stage alias as Jalang’o went on to win the Lang’ata MP seat.

Since then, Jalas has forgiven both his former employees. Eli blames stealing on Satan, saying he never wished or even imagined that he could steal from his boss.

“It is true, the devil took control of us for a moment and we wronged our boss, we had showed up to work and as we washed our boss’ cars my younger brother (Litiema) came across Sh1 million which he told me about but I told him to keep off. Litiema sped off leaving me forcing me to also leave,” Eli said.

Eli has since publicly come out to confess his wrongdoings and the struggles that he has been undergoing at his rural home in Bungoma County. He is having a difficult time providing for his wife and kids. His marriage has been a capsizing ship since losing his job.

“I am struggling a lot, that’s why you see me in the village cultivating land for people. I have sold all the trees in my compound.”

“My kids have not even gone to schools since relocating from Nairobi. My wife also heard the news and at first, she did not believe it. My marriage is on the rocks and my wife might leave me anytime out of the foolish things we did,” Eli said.

According to Eli, when they both ran away with the cash, they decided to split it into half for each person. Eli says he later gave up his half of the share to Jalang’o having spent around Sh. 100,000.

“Pesa ilikuwa million moja na tukaenda tukagawana katikati…but tulirudishia mdosi pesa. Kama mimi nili-surredner nikampigia simu, nikamwambie nimekosa na haikuwa kupenda kwangu. Shetani anaweza kukujia kwa njia yoyote ile,” he said.

Eli claims that on previous occasions while they were attending to the cars, they found even more money than they stole, despite not taking it. He says he is unable to explain what happened on the day they robbed Jalas.

He and his counterpart were forced to surrender all the money once Jalang’o shared their images on social media. Eli says that he knew their lives were in danger because they could come across a mob that would pounce on them.

Eli apologized to Jalas and has since been begging him to take him back as an employee. The question yet to be unraveled is, will the Lang’ata MP rehire him?
