Chania was on Monday October 17 detained by the court for seven days to allow detectives to complete investigations into the murder of her husband George Mwangi.
The police have accused her of killing Mwangi over a love triangle. Detectives say that Mwangi was hit with a blunt object. They also say that the killer may have doused his body with acid because it had been disfigured.
The 58-year-old engineer’s body was dumped at Kieni Forest near Kamunyaka village, along the Thika-Magumu highway. Mwangi had gone missing on Sunday, October 9.
Police say Chania identified Mwangi at the morgue days after she reported him as missing. She reported the case at Mwea and Gachege police posts in Gatundu North on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
