Content Creator and Radio Presenter David Oyando, alias Mulamwah is a highly celebrated Kenyan Comedian. Mulamwah hails from Butere in Kakamega County.
He schooled at St. Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale where he scored a clean A in KCSE. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Moi University.
Mulamwah’s comedy journey traces back to when he uploaded comedic videos on Social media. He then joined Churchill Live in 2019, where he made a name for himself by putting a smile on the face of Kenyans.
Other than being a funnyman, Mulamwah has been making smart investments since fame and money came calling. He has invested most of his wealth in physical assets such as land and a boda-boda business.
Mulamwah previously stated in an interview with BTG that he is worth over Sh. 4 million. For the time that he has been in the money-making industry, Mulamwah chose to live a modest and humble lifestyle in order to pursue several investments.
He said he is not as extravagant as people mistake him to be. Here is a list of properties that Mulamwah owns:
1. Mansion in Kitale
Mulamwah is currently building himself a mansion in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County. He bought the land in July 2021 with the proceeds of his comedy business, before initiating his house project.
He revealed that the construction costs of the house till completion will cost over Sh. 10 million.
As of November 2022, Mulamwah had spent around Sh. 4 million and it was halfway done.
“By the time the house will be complete I will have used approximately Sh. 10 million, that’s everything,” he stated.
He also said that he was not in a hurry to finish the construction. He would continue with building whenever funds to facilitate the house project are present.
When he bought the land his mansion sits on, Mulamwah shared the necessary nuggets of advice to the youth for a successful life in Kenya.
He shared a video holding loads of cash and said: “Today I want to inspire someone, I’m going to buy my first piece of land from comedy.”
“When I started no one believed in me. People will discourage you but don’t listen to people just set your mind right and go for it,“ he said.
He discouraged youth from spending lavishly and living extravagant lives with the little they get. He reminded them of how difficult it is to get the money, but spending it is a piece of cake.
“Money comes in very slowly but goes very quickly. So when you get cash, always assume it is the last you will ever get and manage it well,” he advised.
“The little money you get; save and invest because you don’t know where you will get the money next,” he concluded.
2. Boda Boda Business
One of Mulamwah’s known investments is in the Boda Business. Here he has managed to create a chain of operators, mainly his friends who report to him daily.
He has over 15 motorbikes. He recalls that initially, he faced challenges when starting this business in Kitale town.
“It was tough getting start-up capital…When you have a few bikes, maintaining them is tough, and it used to take up all the profits. But having many bikes is better because they maintain each other,” he explained.
In an interview with Churchill Show, he disclosed that in a day the business can earn him about Sh. 300. This means that the proceeds cumulatively amount to over Sh. 4,500 daily.
In a month, he can get over Sh. 150,000 from the Boda Boda business.
3. Wheat Farm
Mulamwah, like most Kenyans without white-collar jobs, has realized that there is plenty of cash to rake from the farms. Mulamwah is a wheat farmer in Uasin Gishu County.
He said that wheat farming is an alternative source of income for him.
“I am also a farmer. I am currently growing wheat in Eldoret. I don’t stay at one specific point, I go where there is work and money. That’s my side hustle now,” he stated.
4. Other businesses
Other investments Mulamwah is intending to venture into, are such as the hospitality and entertainment industries.
In August 2021, Mulamwah divulged that he would partner with his Japanese friend, Koki Nakaya, who is a restaurant chain owner in Nairobi.
Furthermore, he said that he would be launching his own entertainment label that would help nurture upcoming creatives.
