Telkom Kenya has just announced the completion of its 4G/LTE network expansion to Kenya’s Coast and Lower Eastern regions.
This development means that Telkom’s 4G/LTE network is now accessible across Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, and Taita Taveta in the coastal region, as well as Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, and Kajiado counties in the Lower Eastern region.
The expansion is part of Telkom’s nationwide rollout plan, in collaboration with partners Ericsson and NEC XON, to add 2000 4G sites by 2023.
The rollout is a significant milestone that costs Telkom US $100 million, demonstrating its commitment to becoming the technology partner of choice for its customers in Kenya and the region.
With the increasing demand for broadband, connectivity, and digital platforms, Telkom’s expansion is timely in driving digital transformation within the telecommunications sector.
According to Telkom Kenya’s CEO, Mr Mugo Kibati, mobile data is a fundamental human right that has emerged as a daily necessity. He further affirms the company’s commitment to better position its infrastructure asset base and services to bridge the digital divide and provide customers with more value.
Today’s customers require competitive and comprehensive products that cater to their diverse and ever-changing needs.
Telkom’s expansion will meet the growing demand for reliable and affordable internet services from browsing to mobile money transactions, reading the news online, and updating their apps.
This expansion also aligns with Telkom’s goal to provide customers with more value while bridging the digital divide by expanding its Mobile Data Network.
