The 103rd edition of the Barry Cup Golf Tournament held at the historic Mombasa Golf Club, came to an exhilarating conclusion with remarkable performances from the elite amateur golfers. The tournament, which took place as a 54-hole event for the first time, allowed the participants to earn valuable World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points. In line with the Kenya Golf Union’s initiative to promote ‘Golf for All,’ elite lady golfers were also invited to compete, adding a new dimension of competition and sportsmanship.
After three days of intense competition and impressive displays of golfing finesse, Michael Karanga and Joyce Wanjiru emerged as the triumphant winners in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively,
Karanga, representing Kiambu Golf Club, showcased exceptional skills and composure throughout the tournament shooting an impressive seven under par for the 3-day event.

The tournament, organized by the Kenya Golf Union and sponsored by NCBA, was graced by 69 elite amateurs, creating an atmosphere of spirited competition and camaraderie. Notable players such as Ugandan sensation Godfrey Nsubuga, Coast Veterans led by defending Champion Gathogo Kaguta, Henry Kamau, and Kalamu Choyo contributed to the tournament’s overall excitement and entertainment.
