Lipa Mdogo Mdogo is delivered in partnership with Android, Google’s operating system for internet-enabled devices. All smartphones on offer are loaded with a suite of Google Apps, including search, maps, Gmail, and YouTube.
They are designed to give users a great smartphone experience and empower them to access their favorite apps when on the move, to conduct business, get entertained, and stay connected.
Since its launch in 2020, Lipa Mdogo Mdogo has spurred 4G uptake in the country by upgrading customers from 2G feature phones to affordable 4G smartphones.
Data from the Communications Authority of Kenya shows that 21,228,953 Kenyans are on 4G, with the uptake recording a significant growth.
However, there are still 15,768,091 consumers on 3G, with another 15,768,091 consumers on 2G. This might be due to device costs being above a significant chunk of the Kenyan demographic’s budget.
Through Lipa Mdogo Mdogo, Safaricom has partnered with manufacturers such as Transsion, Samsung, and Nokia to include more smartphones.
The Neon range is designed to offer an optimal combination of screen size, battery capacity, storage, memory, and camera at affordable prices. Over the years, they have become one of the most popular smartphones in Kenya.
