17-year-old Aldrine Kibet’s prowess in football has seen him receive wide attention in Kenya. The youngster prepares to make his trip to the Nastic Sports Academy in Tarragona, Spain.
Kibet, who was named the KSSSA Most Valuable Player during the concluded tournament, stole the show in the final held at Buhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
The glorious Attacking Midfielder cumulatively found the net on 25 occasions and had 27 assists to his G/A tally for the tournament.
At the helm of captaincy for his team, Solidarity Boys, St. Anthony’s Kitale befit him a proper send-off with blessings as Kibet sets on a mission to realize his potential.
At the school grounds was a blend of happiness and sadness as his classmates, teachers, teammates and support staff assembled for his farewell. They shared heartfelt messages. Kibet’s mood was sombre too, as he bid goodbye to his home of 4 years.
“I have experienced some incredible times with the Solidarity Boys and I have met friends that will last a lifetime. I leave with memories that will stay with me forever from my time at the school,” he said in his speech.
“From making my debut at such a young age to playing in the FEASSSA tournament and of course winning the KSSSA National Championship, the 6th title for the school, there are just too many highlights to mention.”
Kibet is expected to fly to Spain this week, in the company of his teammate Amos Wanjala, a Centre Back who was at his peak during the school tournament games.
Elsewhere, Alvin Kasavuli of Solidarity Boys will be flying to the USA, joining Montverde Academy.
The trio were expected to sit their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams this year but have now renounced their candidate status.
Aldrine Kibet and Amos Wanjala who are Spain-bound will transition to the Spanish high school system for 2 years to earn better credentials than KCSE.
“Many have been asking if they would sit for their KCSE exams; they will not sit for their exams but will continue with their education in Spain. An equivalent certificate from Spain is superior to the Kenyan one. The lads have got a better opportunity to explore their talents and education at the same time,” Solidarity Boys wrote on their Facebook account.

“This award is another huge motivation especially as I prepare to travel to Spain for trials in a football academy. I could not imagine that I would be recognized and rewarded by LG and sports journalists.”
“I am thankful for the award and I promise to do better in my football career,” Kibet remarked.
Kibet send off at Poror village
On 9th September, the 17-year-old was honoured with another Thanksgiving mass at his backyard in Poror, Baringo County.
The event’s organizers could not hide their pride and excitement acknowledging Kibet as the first person from the village to play top football.
“He is the first international football talent from our village and this is a blessing,” said Barnaba Kitilit, who works with Kibet’s dad as a teacher in the same school.
