Supa loaf bread is arguably one of the most popular bread brands in the country. The snack is baked by Mini Bakeries Limited, a family-owned business that was started in 1970 by businesswoman Nurzakhanu Akberali Manji and her husband, Akberali Habib Manji.
The journey to establishing the multimillion company started at a small home bakery where Ms Manji also known as ‘Mam Kubwa’, baked and supplied the products to her customers.
With the help of his husband, the two later acquired a business license and started a commercial proper bakery in Port Reitz, Mombasa. The business peaked so quickly that their three sons also joined them in running the enterprise.
In 1983, the family established Mini Bakeries in Mombasa with the aim of manufacturing and distributing various ranges of bread. The firm has since grown to join the list of top bread brands in the country.
