Joyce Gituro: Why I quit my well-paying radio job at Citizen

Former veteran Radio presenter Joyce Gituro has finally shed light on reasons that made her leave her radio job at Media Max despite earning a lucrative salary.

Joyce Gituro presented a show alongside Jeridah Andayi. She has worked for Citizen TV for nearly a decade.

In an interview with Jeff Kuria, Gituro shared that her job did not align with her dreams to achieve certain goals.

“I worked for Citizen from 2004 to 2011. In 2011, I was promoted. I would only be doing one show on a Sunday,” she said.

Joyce did not want to do the Sunday show primarily because she was not saved.

“I could not imagine waking up to preach, but looking at it now I thank God for it has made me know God more,” she explained.

In 2018, she got a better deal from Media Max. She was to become the Media Max brand manager, running 6 different Media Max owned stations.

“I was to be the brand manager. It was not bad but the environment did not allow me to work. I resigned after a year and one month. I resigned despite being a single mother,” Gituro added.

Before resigning, she evaluated her financial positions through her investments. She would be able to sustain her children’s lifestyle and education for a period of 5 years.

“I also looked at my investments and figured that I could educate my kids. I could survive the first five years after resigning.”

When Covid-19 rolled in, Gituro was among those who got infected with the deadly virus. At this time, she also opened her own communications company.

“I miss being on air. It is my passion. But I would never want to go back to radio full-time,” she said.
