Boni Khalwale celebrates as daughter scores B+ in 2023 KCSE

Shortly after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale took to social media to celebrate his daughter’s achievement.

In a post on his official X account, Khalwale revealed his daughter Gift Atubukha Khalwale, an alumnus of St. Brigids High School-Kiminini, scored a mean grade of B+.

“Congratulations, Gift Atubukha Khalwale! I want to thank my family, the entire St. Brigids High School-Kiminini fraternity, and above all, God for supporting my little Tubu to this milestone,” he stated.

Results seen by Bizna show that Atubukha scored a B plain in English, Kiswahili, and Biology, a B- in Mathematics, a C plain in Physics, a B+ in Chemistry, A plain in History & Government, and A- in Christian Religious Education.

KCSE Results: 446,143 score between D Plus and D Minus

Announcing the KCSE results on Monday, Machogu said a total of 903,260 students sat last year’s KCSE exams, an increase from 881,416 candidates who took the exams in 2022.

Of the total, 1,216 students scored a mean grade of A. Some 201,133 candidates managed to get the minimum C+ grade that is required for university entrance.

“The number of candidates who attained the minimum university entry qualification Grade C+ and above was 201,133 (22.27%) in the year 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 173,345 (19.62%) in the year 2022. This is as a result of the application of a new grading system,” Machogu stated.
