Parents have been left puzzled as some candidates KCSE grades change on the official KNEC portal.
Results shared by education philanthropist Ndungu Nyoro showed a candidate who had received very different results within hours of checking.
“In the morning, he had a mean grade of B+, and in the afternoon, he had a mean grade of A-,” said Mr. Nyoro on the student from Nairobi School. The B+ results indicated that this student had scored B- in English, C+ in Kiswahili, A- in mathematics, A- in Biology, A- in Physics, A in Chemistry, B Plain in Geography, and B+ in Business Studies.
The afternoon results that showed a mean grade of A indicated that the candidate had scored B- in English, B Plain in Kiswahili, A Plain in Mathematics, A- in Biology, A- in Physics, A in Chemistry, B Plain in Geography, and B+ in Business Studies.
A different set of results for a candidate from Mang’u High that was shared by Mr. Nyoro also had two varying results.
KCSE Results: 446,143 score between D Plus and D Minus
In the first results, the Mang’u High candidate had a mean grade of B+ with B+ in English, B Plain in Kiswahili, B+ in Mathematics, B Plain in Biology, B+ in Physics, A- in Chemistry, B- in History & Government and A- in Geography.
In the second result, the same candidate had a mean grade of B Plain with B+ in English, C+ in Kiswahili, B- in Mathematics, B Plain in Biology, B+ in Physics, B Plain in Chemistry, C Plain in History & Government and B- in Geography.
The results of the KCSE examinations for year 2023 were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on January 8, 2024. They are only accessible via the KNEC portal.
