The Government of Kenya has extended an invitation to Kenyans to buy ready units of the Affordable Housing Project, in the Bondeni area of Nakuru.
The Ministry of Lands has announced the completion of the project, which commenced in May 2021. The funding for the project was provided by King Sapphire Developers, a subsidiary of Royal Group Industries, to the tune of Sh. 2 billion.
“Interested members of the public are hereby invited to purchase ready units at the affordable housing project in Bondeni, Nakuru,” reads the notice in part.
In the fiscal year 2023/2024, the government allocated Sh. 35.2 billion towards the Housing Program. The Nakuru project comprises 605 ready-for-purchase units, including 45 one-bedroom units, 180 two-bedroom units, and 380 three-bedroom units.
The 2-bedroom units are priced at Sh. 3.1 million, and the 3-bedroom units will be sold at Sh. 4.5 million. However, the prices are not limited to ‘one-time’ sales only.
Those preferring the rent-to-own option will pay Sh. 16,997 per month for the two-bedroom unit until they fulfil the government’s quota. Those interested in the three-bedroom unit, the monthly payment will be Sh. 22,933.

“Qualified purchasers will be offered rent-to-own home loans at a monthly rate of two bedroom unit at Sh16,997 and three bedroom is Sh22,933.”
Effectively, rent-to-own buyers may be required to pay a deposit of Sh. 315,000 for a 2-bedroom unit and Sh. 425,000 for a 3-bedroom unit, in addition to their monthly payments, to eventually own an affordable housing unit.
Interested buyers are invited to channel all applications to the Boma Yangu portal to make their purchases. It is advisable that one visits the property first in Bondeni, Nakuru before making the purchase.
The housing community comes with various amenities, including an outdoor kids’ playground, a restaurant, shops, a borehole, a clinic, and a community hall.
All houses in the area will have a constant electricity supply, thanks to the provision of a backup generator. Additionally, the community features cabro-paved driveways.
