Paul Mwangangi: Meet the man behind one of the most exquisite schools in Kenya

Kitengela International School (KISC) is one of the best learning institutions in Kenya, given its state of art facilities and affordable fees compared to other international schools in the county.

Located barely 40km from Nairobi Central Business District(CBD) the institution empowers students with a holistic education that encourages critical thinking, creativity and innovation.

”Every child matters at KISC, and we aim to achieve the highest standards of education within a caring and stimulating environment. We are committed to ensuring that all our students achieve their full potential and enjoy their learning,’’ the institution states.

KISC British International School offers the British International Curriculum and it is comparatively cheaper to other international schools in Kenya while KISC Girls High School, KISC Primary Schools have adopted the 8.4.4 education system.

The school which has since its inception attracted nationwide admiration is a brainchild of Paul Mwangangi, a Kenyan professional engineer.

The businessman who doubles up as the Managing Director and Chair to the Board of Management at the institution founded the school in 2009 with the help of loans and proceeds from his successful engineering career.

The school has since then grown to open several other branches in Nairobi including a high school.

Its main campus is situated in Kitengela and hosts three schools under the same piece of land which include; a Mixed Day and Boarding Primary School and Pre-School, KISC Girls High School and the British System School.

Its other branches are in Syokimau and Athi River in Machakos County.

During the recently completed Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), the institution made headlines after parents stormed the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) offices after their children posted dismal results.

The parents who camped at the KNEC offices lamented that the results did not reflect the academic abilities of their children.

This is the second year in a row that the school is protesting KCPE results. In the previous 2022 KCPE examinations, it also wrote a protest letter to KNEC demanding for a re-examination after recording poor results which it claimed did not reflect the true abilities of its candidates.
