Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa (KBTA) is excited to announce that Innovate Now, Africa’s first Assistive Technology (AT) Accelerator has been selected to implement the Strengthening  Kenya’s Innovation Ecosystem (SKIES) project. The project is a sub-component under component 1 of the Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Project (KIEP) funded by the World  Bank Group. Being implemented by the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry (MITI), led by Spineberg and E4Impact Centre as the Management Firm.
The SKIES project is set to increase productivity and innovation by building the capacity for long-term sustainability in the assistive technology market, for Innovate Now and supported ventures. The project aims to accelerate thirty (30) new assistive technologies to market and to increase the capacity of the accelerator in supporting AT innovators through improved governance, operations, and brand visibility.

Innovate Now has launched its call for applications for Cohort 8 powered by SKIES which will close on 30th June 2024. Interested startups can apply through the Innovate Now website:Â www.atinnovatenow.com/apply/. The cohort is expected to start on 15th July 2024.
The selected startups will benefit from a six-month acceleration program, which includes an immersive and active learning AT innovation curriculum, venture-building support, user-centered research through the Live Labs network, mentorship from AT experts and entrepreneurs, and investor linkages to accelerate the scaling of assistive technologies to market.
