Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Dr Alfred Mutua has warned Kenyans against transacting with 26 recruitment agencies.
In a public notice on Thursday, October 3, the CS said the agencies are not registered with the National Employment Authority (NEA) and, therefore, not authorized to conduct recruitment activities for both local and international labour markets.
“We wish to inform the general public and jobseekers that the following private employment agencies are not registered by the Authority and are, therefore, not authorised to undertake any recruitment activities for local or foreign labour markets,” the notice read in part.
The flagged agencies are:

- Kistamu Agency Limited
- Makungu International Ltd
- Talent Getaway Ltd
- Royal Capital Placement Ltd

This comes two months after 16 other recruitment agencies were blacklisted following complaints that hundreds of jobseekers had lost millions of shillings in overseas job offers, only to be abandoned once they reached their destinations.
To combat the menace, the government last month unveiled a series of new regulations governing employment both locally and abroad as it aims to clean up the recruitment sector and expand job opportunities for Kenyans seeking employment overseas.
Among the changes unveiled is the introduction of a new registration system for employment agencies.
New agencies will be required to pay an initial registration fee of Sh500,000 for a certificate valid for one year while existing agencies will see their renewal period extended to two years, with renewal costs of Sh500,000 for the full period or Sh250,000 for one year.
The Labour Ministry further encouraged Kenyans to remain cautious and only work with officially registered agencies to avoid being misled.
“Members of the public are further cautioned to do due diligence before they engage with any recruitment agency.”
