The camp culminates a week-long series of activities in the region as part of Safaricom’s Sambaza Furaha Campaign.
Kericho, 17th September 2024… Over 3,000 residents in Kericho County have benefited from a medical camp hosted by the M-PESA Foundation in partnership with Zuri Health and Lion Sight First Eye Hospital at Kapcheluch Primary School, Belgut Sub-County, Kericho County.
The camp offered an array of services, including eye care consultations, breast cancer screening, dental care, general doctor consultations, and women’s health. Additionally, 24 patients suffering from diabetes and hypertension received free medication for 24 months. During the camp, 24 patients were registered and onboarded onto SHA to receive free medical cover for one year.
“This medical camp in Kericho marked the culmination of a week-long series of activities in this region, celebrating and spreading Christmas cheer to our customers through the Sambaza Furaha campaign. We were delighted to see such a large turnout, with many people coming to take advantage of the free medical checkups we are offering,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.

The camp marked the Foundation’s 18th medical camp in the second phase of the initiative, where over 33,000 individuals have benefited from essential medical services across counties such as Nairobi, Siaya, Migori, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru, Bomet, Kisii, Bungoma, Migori, Muranga, Turkana, and Machakos.
The medical camp also marked the culmination of a week-long of activities in the region as part of Safaricom’s Sambaza Furaha Campaign.
The company spread festive cheer through various gifts, including goats, chickens, food hampers, and airtime, among other gifts, traversing Narok, Baringo, Bomet, Kericho, Nandi, Kapsabet, Eldoret, and Nakuru, celebrating its customers as the company also marks 24 years of transforming lives.
Beyond the medical camp and spreading festive cheer, Safaricom also hosted Safaricom Hook workshops in Nakuru and stakeholder engagements involving media and dealers’ engagement forums in Eldoret.
