How BLAZE By Safaricom Is Changing Young People’s Lives

How BLAZE By Safaricom Is Changing Young People’s Lives

By Bizna Brand Analyst

Safaricom recently launched an innovative campaign or rather sub-brand called BLAZE.  However, many people still don’t have a clear picture of what it’s all about. After a quick survey on a number of friends, I found that 90% of them didn’t know what Blaze was. They had heard of it, but they weren’t exactly sure whether it was a campaign or a fire that was burning down Safaricom House down.

That was quite unfortunate because Blaze is already changing the lives of young people all over Kenya. If you are not on the bandwagon, you need to hop in. All you need to do is dial *555#

The question is, as a young person, how will Blaze help you? The other question is how is this campaign helping those who are already on it? Well, the campaign forges your life in three main areas.

Saving

Once you select your Blaze plan, you are able to manage your daily or weekly airtime usage. You have the option to decide how much bundles you want to use, minutes to call and the number of text messages to send. When these are exhausted, you have to wait for the next subscription. When browsing for example, the urge to keep buying new bundles every time you exhaust the ones you had is curbed.

NCBA

This is helping to create a saving culture among the youth. Saving isn’t only beneficial on money management. It also helps people know the difference between wants and needs. Saving helps you discover what you can do without and what you truly need. Blaze ensures that the excess money that could have been spent on bundles and chatting all day can now be channeled somewhere productive o saved for the future.

Personal Discipline

Most young people find it difficult to instill constructive habits within themselves without some form of guidance. Internet and gadget additions have become common among people aged below 25.

With Blaze, your days of being a phone addict are basically over. You can concentrate on work and loved ones. Safaricom has taken an unselfish reason to help you manage the amount of time you spend on your phone to enable you to concentrate on other activities. Since you are aware that you only have 250MB data for the week for instance, you refrain from spending all your time on the internet. You opt on pursuing alternative actions. As a result, your work ethic is boosted.

It’s obvious that Safaricom stands to lose some airtime profits by doing this but it shows that money isn’t the only major goal. Societal welfare is equally important.

 Mentorship and Training

Blaze has a program dubbed Be Your Own Boss which involves a boot-cap, summit and a TV show. The boot camp provides up to five days of intense training for young people by specialists in their areas of interests. Various people have already benefited from it and learned how to use their skills to create financial freedom for themselves.

Summits on the hand are longer and deal with a select few blazers. These events not only help the youth in getting mentors but also getting to connect with like-minded youths. You don’t need to worry. There are still many more summits in the pipeline. To register for a summit near you, dial *555#
