Schools across the country have reopened for term two today. This was after the end of the April holiday which had started on April 4, 2025. The holiday had preceded the first term, which had lasted for 13 weeks.
According to the timetable released by the Ministry of Education, the second term shall start on Monday April 28, 2025. Schools will then close on August 1, 2025. The second term shall contain 14 weeks.
During the second term, schools will close for their mid term break on June 25, with schools opening for the remainder of the term on June 29. The mid term break shall last for 5 days.
At the end of the second term, students shall break for the August holiday which will start on August 4 and last for three weeks until August 22. After the August holiday, schools will reopen for the final term in the 2025 academic calendar on August 25.

The third term shall last for 9 weeks with schools closing on October 24, 2025 to pave way for national examinations and the December holiday. This holiday shall last for over two months, starting from October 27 and ending on January 2, 2026. The holiday shall contain 10 weeks.
According to the Ministry of Education’s academic calendar for this year, national examinations shall be held between October 27 and November 21.
The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations shall start on October 27 and last for four days until October 30. The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) examinations shall take place from October 27. They shall last for five days ending October 31.
The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) examinations shall then take place for nine days from October 27 to November 6.
The final examinations for the calendar year shall be the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations which will start on November 3 and last for three weeks until November 21.
