The new service routes come barely two weeks after the Sacco resumed operations after complying with all the requirements that had been set by the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The NTSA had identified several violations, including expired inspection certificates, lack of valid Road Service Licenses, and issues related to speed limiter compliance. At the same time, concerns were raised about driver qualifications and adherence to labor laws.

Sack 269 drivers and re-test 42 others – Super Metro ordered

These led to the suspension of operations by the transport operator, and orders that required some drivers to be retested and some vehicles to be inspected again. The NTSA had stated that 64 drivers working for the Sacco had failed a retest on March 10, 2025.

The NTSA stated that out of a fleet of 523 vehicles operating under the Sacco, 15 had expired inspection certificates while 8 others had expired road service licenses. At the same time, 5 vehicles had expired speed limiter certificates, 88 were not transmitting speed data, 171 had no speed limiter records, while 7 others had no speed limiter vendor details.

A total of 109 vehicles had also found to be operating beyond the stipulated speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour.
