President Ruto hands over 1080 new homes in Mukuru amid pomp and colour!

President William Ruto has officially handed over keys to 1080 new homeowners at the New Mukuru Housing Estate.

This milestone marks a major step in the government’s commitment towards providing decent and affordable homes to every Kenyan no matter how much one earns.

“This occasion is a true testament of the possibility of owning a home and building financial security. Through the Affordable Housing Program, every Kenyan can invest in a property that appreciates over time and creates value for you and your family. The New Mukuru Housing Estate is not simply about building homes. This project is about reimagining urban life for low-income communities. It is about Building Dignity for Every Kenyan living within this ecosystem,” said President Ruto.

The homes provide security and stability offering a gated community with amenities such as daycare centres, shops, green spaces that are a secure place for one’s family to grow.

“In addition to delivering decent and affordable homes, the Mukuru project has provided for thousands of direct and indirect jobs across the construction production chain ranging from jua kali artisans, masons, painters, food vendors, and professional service providers such as architects and quantity surveyors,” he added on to say.

On their part, the new homeowners expressed their joy and gratitude stating that nothing compares to the pride of owning your home. It’s not just a roof over your head, but a space to live a dignified life and create memories and enjoy life on your terms.

Government unveils Boma Yangu platform to provide low and middle-income earners with affordable homes

25-year-old Newton Kinyua is one of the residents of Mariguini slum who has been allocated a studio unit at the New Mukuru Housing Estate, expressed gratitude in the seamless homeownership journey availed to him by the Affordable Housing Board.

“The team came and helped us register by uploading the needed documentation on the Boma Yangu platform. They encouraged us to save. To start out, I saved 200 only, he added on to say.”

They thanked the Government for they now believe that homeownership is a reality through the Affordable Housing Program.
