A group of Boda Boda riders from Zimmerman stormed a loan firm in Kihunguro, Ruiru, on Wednesday, October 29, accusing it of stealing and repossessing motorbikes issued on loan.
The firm identified as Jijenge Uwezo Limited is accused of giving out motorcycles on loans before stealing them back.
The revelation came after a Boda Boda operator allegedly found his stolen motorcycle being displayed for sale at the firm’s premises.
The angry riders claimed that the said colleague was drugged by individuals posing as customers before making away with his motorcycle and other valuables.
The victim reported the case at Membley Police Station and later visited the loan firm where he was informed that his motorcycle’s tracker had been deactivated in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
Days later, when he returned to follow up on the investigation, the victim and a colleague were shocked to find the same motorcycle on display at the company’s premises, allegedly being prepared for sale.

The incident drew dozens of fellow operators to the scene, who discovered other stolen bikes at the firm. The operators demanded the immediate release of their motorbikes while accusing the firm of sending individuals posing as customers to hire their bikes, only for them to steal them.
Police officers from Ruiru Police Station, led by Sub-County Police Commander Maina Kibathi, seized all the recovered bikes and took them to the station for verification and further investigation.
Kibathi said that they have launched investigations into the incident to establish the ownership of the recovered motorcycles and to verify the company’s operations.
“We have confirmed there is a company here in Ruiru operating as Jijenge Uwezo Limited that is issuing motorbikes on loans to Boda boda operators. A complainant reported to us that his bike was stolen, only for him to get it back at this company. Today they stormed the company, and we had to come and confirm this,” said Kibathi.
“We have taken all the bikes for proper verification. Any rider whose motorbike may have been stolen is advised to bring their ownership documents to the station to help identify their property,” he added.
