Sh. 320 billion to be spent on three roads, bridge

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is set to spend Sh.320 billion to construct three roads and a bridge.

The roads are the Mombasa-Nairobi highway, the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit highway, Nairobi-Thika highway and a second Nyali Bridge.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich said the government is seeking to partner with investors to get the funds for the projects.

Co-Op post

“We are looking for innovative financing initiatives which will tap into the infrastructure sector to enable the projects to start,” he said.

Mr Rotich said the Treasury allocates only Sh. 140 billion annually to the Transport and Infrastructure ministry and needs a public-private partnership to get the additional funds.

The government requires an additional Sh. 180 billion from investors and donors to complete the projects.
