Uganda exports to Kenya: Uganda is now exporting more to Kenya than Kenya exports to her. This has been stated by Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni. It was stated on Fridah in what lookef like a boastful post to many Kenyans.
“Recently, I hosted Kenya’s Deputy President, William Ruto, who came with the permanent secretary of their ministry of trade. The PS told me Uganda is now exporting more to Kenya. For example, in the month of January 2018, Uganda exported goods worth KSh 18,722,443,911 while Kenya exported to Uganda goods worth KSh 8,656,613,851,” Museveni stated.
In February 2018, Museveni says its exported to Kenya KSh 14,998,086,789 in goods while Kenya exported to it goods worth KSh 12,179,654,372. In April, KSh 13,186,237,378 worth of goods were exported to Kenya while it imported goods worth KSh 9,260,563,655.
In May the same year Uganda sold Kenya produce worth KSh 22,950,092,537 while it only imported goods worth KSh 13,286,895,679 from Kenya.
“Except for March, where we imported goods worth KSh 11,575,704,569 as Kenya exported to us goods worth KSh 13,286,895,679,” stated Museveni. This statement comes as a reminder of the delicate position that the country is currently in. The cost of living has been on the rise and the economy has not been booming as was witnessed during the Kibaki regime.
Many Kenyans have also been getting worried by the ballooning debts that the Jubilee administration has been taking. For example, Kenya currently owes over Sh. 1.1 trillion to the World Bank and China alone.
In the same vein, the country has now taken over Sh. 5 trillion in debts alone.
