Top App in Kenya: Jumia Kenya’s app is now the most downloaded app in Kenya.Jumia beat popular apps such as WhatsApp, Tala Kenya and Okash to emerge top. This milestone comes hot on the heels of the annual mega sale dubbed Black Friday that Jumia is currently running. The mega sale kicked off on November 2 and is running through this month.
‘We have dubbed every Friday as Black Friday this month. We are offering up to 70 per cent discounts on over 3.5 million products on Jumia,” says Jumia Kenya’s managing director Sam Chappatte.

In this year’s Black Friday, Jumia is offering App-Only Deals for customers who shop on the Jumia through their app. “We want to reward our most loyal customers with our best deals. This is why we launched App-Only-Deals this Black Friday. Customers can find the best deals, and benefit from faster shopping & lower data costs on our app”, says Jumia.
Interestingly, the share of Jumia’s sales originating from the App has increased from 20 per cent to 31 per cent over the last year. This growth is expected to be higher once the Black Friday mega sale is concluded.
According to Jumia, one of the easiest ways that Kenyans access dozens of discount vouchers, flash sales and treasure hunts is by downloading the Jumia App before the mega campaign kicks off.
During the mega sale, Jumia is holding up to 10 mega flash sales every two hours. “We also have 5 treasure hunts everyday, 7 flash sales daily and are offering free vouchers to top up on your shopping,” says Sam.

Interestingly, Jumia is the only app in Kenya that is offering best price guarantees. this means that shoppers are given the option of getting their money back if they can find any other retailer with better prices than Jumia. “This shows that we have really invested in providing the best discounts in the market for our products,” says Jumia in a statement.
Jumia is expecting that up to four million Kenyans will shop on its platform this month. It is also expected that this year’s event will be twice as large as the black Friday event that was held last year. This is due to the continued growth of the e-commerce sector in Kenya.
In this year’s black Friday, Jumia has partnered with both local and international brands including Visa, Huawei, Samsung, Synix, OMO, LC Waikiki, Xiomi, Pampers, Unilever, Ramtons, Mooka, Simba Corp, Chandaria Industries, and Procter & Gamble.
