Over the years, Credit Bank has been at the fore front in supporting small and medium enterprises in the country. This has seen small-scale traders and entrepreneurs reap big from the lender’s financial solutions. Now, the bank has partnered with Meru County in a move that will facilitate faster realization of the Meru County’s Vision 2040.
Meru county recently launched vision 2040 which is aimed at capturing the aspirations of the people of Meru, propelling the county towards realization of the national vision 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, Meru County envisions for ‘A United, Prosperous Green Model County’ delivered through promotion of sustainable development, technological innovations and industrialization .
Through the partnership, Credit Bank will also support the investment arm of the county (Meru County Investment and Development Corporation) that provides a convenient framework for engagement by the private sector in the pursuit and delivery of its social economic and commercial ventures.
“Credit Bank’s Entrepreneurship Hub remains integral to growing and developing entrepreneurs. Part of the efforts are currently geared towards additional financing and leadership programmes for SME,” said Pamela Mutembei Head of Business and Marketing at Credit Bank. “EHub currently provides access to networks that link entrepreneurs to one another. The Bank is also partnering with social impact investors targeting to support women entrepreneurs through AFAWA programme amongst others.”

Additionally, the bank will enhance the sensitization in the community on long term investment and their economic plans through financial literacy forums. According to Ms. Mutembei, these forums will enable Bodaboda riders in the county to enhance their livelihoods by starting income generating projects through the Bodaboda initiative in the county.
Credit Bank will also extend support to the Mt Kenya Running Championships. The championships, organized by the Meru County government, will be held on February 22. The organizers are targeting over 5,000 participants to raise more than Sh. 50 million which will go towards cancer campaigns and efforts. The winner of the 12km race will pocket Sh. 500,000 while the first and second runners up will get Sh. 250,000 and Sh. 100,000 respectively. Meru is one of the 11 counties with high prevalence of cancer and proceeds from the event will boost the fight against the disease.
