Huawei OceanStor Pacific series Storage today won Best of Show Award Grand Prize in the Server & Storage Division at Japan’s largest ICT exhibition, Interop Tokyo 2021. Citing the product’s unique technical advantages: multi-protocol interworking, hybrid workloads-oriented, and high-density design. The show’s experts praised this next-generation storage for its high-performance data analytics (HPDA). They also applauded its high efficiency and outstanding performance.

The leading computing exhibition played host to a series of forums and workshops, all of which highlighted key developments of cutting-edge technologies within the industry. At one of the workshops, Huawei introduced its award-winning storage and its various unique features which are designed to help organizations to seamlessly handle industry upgrades and unlock their data potential. The product excelled in multiple rounds of testing among selected vendors where Huawei took the lead and was awarded the Grand Prize.
Upon winning the award, Dr. Peter Zhou, President of Huawei IT Product Line remarked:
“We are very pleased that our storage product has once again won Interop Tokyo’s Best of Show Award. It is no secret that HPC [High Performance Computing] is evolving towards data-intensive computing, which means larger data volumes, higher reliability needs, and varying workloads. Therefore, our customers in the HPC industry need professional storage systems to better cope with these challenges. With extensive technical know-how and industry practices, we have launched OceanStor Pacific series, the next-generation storage for HPDA [High-Performance Data Analytics]. It has been vastly used in scientific research institutions, universities, and enterprises in Asia-Pacific and Europe, in helping them to remove HPC bottlenecks while also accelerating the evolution from traditional HPC to HPDA.”

Among the technologies that contributed to Huawei’s product award was the industry’s first lossless protocol interworking technology. Allowing users to access the same file over multiple protocols, such as POSIX/MPI/NFS/CIFS/HDFS/S3. It ensures efficient zero-copy data transfer throughout the entire service process, as well as higher process and storage efficiency.
Huawei OceanStor Pacific series also support multiple types of workloads; one storage system can process data from end to end by offering high bandwidth for large files, and high IOPS (Input/ Output Operations per Second) for small files. To help customers reduce the storage TCO (total cost of ownership), the series adopts industry-leading high-density design which have high-density performance and high-density capacity models. These in turn provide high bandwidth of 32 GB/s per U and a large capacity of 24 disks per U, respectively.
