President Uhuru Cars: President Uhuru Kenyatta’s vehicle purchase budget has been increased from Sh. 10 million to nearly Sh. 300 million. This increment has also seen the increase of the budget State House gets for fuel from Sh. 25 million to Sh. 98.9 million.

These increments are contained in a supplementary budget that has been tabled by the National Treasury to the Parliament for review. On the other hand, an additional Sh. 41 million has been channeled for machinery purchase as well as an additional Sh. 20 million car maintenance budget.

Although it was not immediately clear why the allocations for vehicle purchase and fuel consumption have been increased, speculation has tied them to the 2022 General Elections campaigns, of which the president has declared he will be actively involved.

Co-Op post

The president, who is set to hit the campaign trail in favour of former prime minister and opposition leader Raila Odinga has recently fallen out bitterly with his deputy Dr. William Ruto.

In the new budgetary allocations, the State House budget increment is the highest among all ministries and State departments. “The overall change in the national government ministerial budget, excluding the consolidated fund services and county allocations, from the original approved budget is an increase of Sh. 126.3 billion,” Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani said.
